Toffee Apples

Get your chills & thrills this Halloween with our decadent Peanut Butter Toffee Apples. They are wickedly delicious!

Need to know

Makes: 6 Toffee Apples

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Cooking time: 5-6 minutes

What you need

– 6 x red or green apples

– 6 x ghoulish twigs (or thick skewer sticks)

– 1 cup sugar

– ¼ cup water

– 2 tbsp Bega Smooth Peanut Butter

– Chopped peanuts for coating

Instructions

Step 1.

Pull off stalks from the apples and insert the twigs (or thick skewer sticks).

Step 2.

Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan and stir over a medium heat until the sugar has dissolved (using a wet pastry brush to brush any sugar down from the sides of the pan throughout cooking).

Step 3.

Bring to the boil and boil steadily for 5 minutes without stirring until the toffee turns a pale golden colour.

Step 4.

Remove from the heat, add the peanut butter and quickly swirl in the pan until combined… Stir a little if necessary.

Step 5.

Quickly dip the apples into the toffee then into the peanuts, place onto a lined tray to set. (Note: Once the peanut butter is added to the toffee you must work quickly to dip the apples - two pairs of hands would be beneficial. The toffee continues to cook removed from the heat and can become over cooked the longer it stands, resulting in a burnt flavour.)
